Terms of use — 43sunsets.com

Who we are. 43 Sunsets is an independent Illinois-based business (contact: hello@43sunsets.com). We help Japanese-owned manufacturers in the United States improve sales, marketing, planning and customer-facing work with workflow automation, custom business systems and data-driven tools, including Signal. We also operate 43 Sunsets Studio, which publishes smaller automation tools, templates and technical products through third-party platforms (Gumroad, Apify, Agensi, Etsy, the n8n template library). Purchases made there are governed by that platform’s terms and refund policy in addition to any product-specific notes we publish.

Products and accuracy. We describe only features that exist and numbers we have measured. Templates and tools are provided as described in their setup notes; you are responsible for configuring and running them in your own environment and for the credentials you connect.

No warranty beyond what we state. Except where a platform’s terms say otherwise, products are provided “as is”. We do not promise business outcomes. Signal is a beta: access is granted at our discretion, free of charge for now, and its scope may change without notice.

Links. Some links on this site are tracked redirects on our own domain (/go/…) so we can see which page a visitor came from. They do not set cookies.

Changes. We may update these terms; the version date at the top of this page is the current one.

Privacy — what this site collects

• Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-less and does not track individuals across sites. We look at aggregate visits, referrers and paths.
• Language preference. If you switch the site language, the choice is stored in your browser’s local storage only. Nothing is sent to us.
• Embedded video. The Studio page embeds YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube’s policies apply once you play a video.
• Email. If you write to hello@43sunsets.com we keep the correspondence to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list unless you register for Signal (see below).
• We do not run ads, sell data, or use third-party trackers on this site.

Signal (43sunsets.com/signal)

• What Signal is. Signal shows signals about companies drawn from public records (building permits, UCC filings, government grants and loans, public job postings) and our reading of them. It is a beta offered free of charge to a limited group. Some sections are shown as a sample until you register.
• Registration. To open the full sections we ask for your company name, your name, your title and your company email address, and optionally the states and sections you are interested in. We use them to decide whether to grant access, to send you the login link, and to contact you about Signal. We may check your registration by hand before granting access.
• Login. There is no password. We email you a link that is valid for 15 minutes and works once; confirming it sets one first-party cookie (sg_s) on 43sunsets.com that keeps you logged in for 30 days. The cookie contains a random session identifier only. You can end the session with “Log out”, or by deleting the cookie.
• What we record while you use Signal. Signal pages send us an anonymous visit beacon (a random identifier kept in your browser’s local storage, the page path and the source of the visit; no IP address or browser details) which we keep for 90 days to count visitors and return visits. When you are logged in, we may also record which sections you open and when, tied to your registration, so that we can improve Signal and get in touch with you about it.
• Email from us. Registering means we may send you login links, notices about Signal, and occasional updates about what the data shows. Every update email has an unsubscribe link; login links and account notices are sent only when you ask for them.
• Where it is stored and who processes it. Registration and session data are stored on Cloudflare (Workers KV, United States) and in our marketing database. Email is sent through Google Workspace. We do not sell or share your data with anyone else. Access is limited to the people who run 43 Sunsets.
• Retention and deletion. Session data expires after 30 days and visit beacons after 90 days. We keep your registration until you ask us to delete it, or until our email has failed to reach you (bounced or unsubscribed) for 24 months or more. Write to hello@43sunsets.com to see, correct or delete your registration at any time.
• About the companies shown. Signal displays information that public authorities have already published, plus our summaries and inferences, which may contain errors. If you represent a company shown and want a correction, write to hello@43sunsets.com; we will review and fix errors in our reading, but we cannot alter the public record itself.

Our services (43sunsets.com/services)

• What you give us. To run a service you provide the inputs the order form asks for (for example a website address). We use them only to produce the deliverable you ordered.
• Requests. If you send a request through the “Can you do this?” form or sign up for a free check, we keep it — the description, any example link, and your email — to reply and to improve our services. It is stored securely and reviewed by a person; we do not forward it anywhere else. Say so if you want it deleted.
• Payment. Where a service is paid, payment and receipts are handled by our payment provider (Gumroad). We do not see or store your card details.
• Delivery and retention. Deliverables are made available to you on the web. We keep the deliverable and your inputs for 30 days so you can re-download them and so we can answer questions, then delete them.
• Public data. Our services analyse publicly accessible information (such as your website). We do not access anything that requires your login unless you explicitly grant it for a specific job.
• Refunds. Because deliverables are produced on demand, we refund a paid service in full if we could not deliver what its page promised. Ask at hello@43sunsets.com within 14 days. Disagreement with the findings themselves is not a delivery failure.
